The Tsitouras Collection is a small, exquisite De Luxe Class Hotel on the Cycladic Island of Santorini, in the Aegean Sea and it is open all year round. It is located in Firostefani, just 700 metres from the Main Town of Fira, which can be either a scenic walk or a quick taxi ride. There is a magnificent view of the Volcano from the Veranda. Easily accessible via Air & Boat transportation, 8 Km from Santorini Airport and Athinios Port. On the enchanting Island of Santorini. There were the fairy-tale muddles with reality and nature with dreams. There, where the sea binds with the sky in a perpetual love play. In Santorini, in the heart of the wind-swept Aegean, where the myth places the renowned land of Atlantis on a craggy rock hang the six Houses that compose the Complex of the Tsitouras Collection; gazing over the open sea and the mysterious Volcano, perched on the top of a thousand-foot cliff, overlooking one of the most spectacular views to be found in the Mediterranean.
The Hotel consists of 5 Houses and a Villa. The House of the Sea, the House of the Winds, the House of Portraits, the House of Porcelain and the House of Nureyev, which can accommodate from two to five people. The Tsitouras Collection Villa can accommodate up to 6 persons. The Houses have a capacity of 2 to 6 persons each, and are named after the unique collection that dominates the interior. These 6 units of unique beauty combine high aesthetics with modern functionalism. Their architectural elements - domes, vaults, arcades, inner windows, skylights - characteristic patterns of the order that prevails in Santorini, are emphasized by tasteful decoration, modern furniture and antiques, as well as ancient amphorae, Byzantine icons, old travel maps, paintings, nautical chests.
Each House has
its own personality and contains one or more characteristic collections of
Art Objects. All the Houses have their own Wet Bar, which is
complimentary, a CD Player with Special CD selection of the owner,
Satellite TV & DVD, Direct Dial Telephone, Safe Deposit Boxes and Air
Conditioning. All the Bathrooms are in Greek white marble and are fully
equipped (Hairdryers, Bathrobes, Slippers, etc.).
Breakfast is served all day on tables laid with silver cutlery and specially designed dishes, individually for each Guest.
In this most
introspective of the Tsitouras Houses the sea is reflected in an ancient
shell-encrusted amphora, Seamen’s Chests, Nautical Maps and fittings from
old-time Ocean Liners. The walls are a creamy colour.
A collection of
engravings of the ancient Tower of the Winds in Athens gave this House its
name. It is a House with high vaulted ceilings, an airy light blue on the
walls and the timeless elegance in the authentic Santorinian period
furniture.
This is the core of the
initial 18th century structure around which the five Luxury Houses of The
Tsitouras Collection Hotel have been built. It is the most social House as
you are in the company of the collection of Portraits that grace its
walls.
A collection of
valuable white and blue 19th century Minton and Royal Copenhagen porcelain
plates is the characteristic feature of this House. They are displayed in
an authentic China Cabinet from the same era.
The most romantic House
of them all, favoured by Honeymooners for this reason, it is perched above
the others in a dancers pirouette. This house has its own private Veranda
overlooking the Caldera.
The Tsitouras Collection Villa accommodates up to 6 persons and includes three Double Bedrooms, three Bathrooms, a fully equipped Kitchen, Sitting Room, Private Veranda and Private Pool.
Behind the elegant Santorini Hotel and Athens showroom of The Tsitouras Collection lays an entire philosophy. As can be seen from the description of the TC Houses elsewhere on these pages, the Tsitouras philosophy emphasizes the ageless Greek style, with lovely objects demonstrating the sparse lines of classical antiquity, the saintly face of Byzantine iconography, the decorative element of our Renaissance Venetian connection, the opulence of 18th and 19th century objects, and the beauty and functionality of the best-designed products of the present century. For the 21st century, the Tsitouras philosophy aspires to elegant simplicity based on the successful synthesis of all these historical elements, not as an abstract concept, but as a practical proposal for solutions that will make our lives more meaningful.
The Tsitouras Collection believes excellence should be rewarded. So we have created Awards and Distinctions given on official and private occasions, Awards that meet a need both in Greece and abroad. For example, on behalf of the Onassis Foundation, we created all the prizes given to the Greek medallists at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. Also, a number of companies including Toyota and Roche have asked the TC to design Cups for Sporting Events, musical occasions etc. But The Tsitouras Collection is perhaps best known for its sponsorship of two local Awards: the Apollo Award for Music and the annual Europe-wide Tsitouras Collection Cup for the best foreign Rider and the best Greek Rider in Equestrian Events.
